The Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Hager Bush recently put CoolSculpting to the test. As part of their ‘Does it work?’ series, these news anchors were happy to give the trendy procedure a try. Each a mother of two, Savannah and Jenna were both looking to improve their appearance but each came in with a different area of focus.
Did the treatment provide results? Yes, it did. The proof is in the before and after pictures. To get an objective opinion, NBC News had Savannah and Jenna’s results examined by Michigan plastic surgeon, Dr. Anthony Young and New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Brian Glatt. Both doctors agree that the CoolSculpting treatments provided a ‘significant’ fat reduction in the treated areas. Tune in to the segment to watch their journey.
Savannah – CoolSculpting for the Arms
The upper arms are one of the most common areas for CoolSculpting. Many women find that as they get older, ‘bat wings’ can form. Reducing the isolated fat along the upper arm adds youthful contour, improving the overall physical appearance and upping confidence. Although CoolSculpting offers excellent results for almost anyone, patients should have good tissue elasticity to ‘bounce back’ after the procedure. Too much stretched skin means a surgical arm lift (brachioplasty) will be necessary to eliminate the drooping tissue.
Nine weeks after her last CoolSculpting session, Savannah came away pleased with the changes. While neither Jenna or Savannah experienced any side-effects from the procedure, patients can expect mild tenderness and tingling right after the procedure. “When you thaw, it does hurt a little, that’s all I’ll say about that,” Savannah said. The price for Savannah’s three treatments was $5,850.
Jenna – CoolSculpting for the Abdomen
CoolSculpting has a variety of applicators, each designed to fit a specific area. Hard-to-pinch areas like the outer thighs, small areas like a double chin, and larger areas such as the stomach can be successfully treated with these unique applicators. The 35-minute treatment requires no anesthesia. Both women and men who are close to their ideal weight, but unhappy with stubborn fat along their abdomen, may make an excellent CoolSculpting candidate.
After nine weeks, Jenna believes her CoolSculpting sessions made a difference. Optimal results take time to appear, however. The full benefits can take from two to three months to show. She explained, “The thing is I felt different immediately”. The best part is the results are long-lasting. “As far as it coming back, yes the fat cells go away forever, but the other fat cells can become expanded”. For this reason, patients should follow a healthy diet and exercise routine to maintain their CoolSculpting results. The cost for Jenna’s two sessions was $7,800. While her process was more expensive than Savannah’s, Jenna opted for Dual Sculpting, using two applicators to treat two areas at once.
